8 Months

Abbi turned 8 months old yesterday!  It is amazing how she has gone from this little immobile baby blob to this little girl on the move. She is crawling everywhere and pulling herself up on anything and everything!  I’m finding myself saying, “Abbi, no” quite a bit.  I’m also noticing how non-babyproof our house is right now.  Of course we have picture frames and candles on low tables that she can pull herself up on and knock over.  I would move them up higher but I really don’t have anywhere to move them to.  I guess I could just box them up and put them away for a while too.

She has also popped through her second tooth and, I think, is working on her third (a top tooth).  I’m afraid this third tooth may take a while to come through and is going to be a bear!  I wish I could just take the pain away from her and go through it myself.  I hate seeing her hurt!

We’ve also started our Sign Language class today.  I was very encouraged about how Abbi picked up the sign for milk/bottle so I’m hoping that she’ll be able to pick up a few more signs as well.  Either way, it is a good time for me to interact with other moms and for her to interact with other kids.  I really don’t want her to be one of those kids who doesn’t know how to interact with kids her own age because she’s only around adults most of the time.  So I guess it’s party just a social outing for us.  My friends’ kids are all at least a year older than Abbi and are at a completely different stage which makes it a little difficult for them to interact.  I know a year doesn’t seem like a lot, but at this age it is.  There is such a social & developmental difference between a crawler and a steady walker.  I think once Abbi starts walking, then it will make it easier for her to play with those older babies.
