No, Christmas did not swallow me whole

but it did chew me up for a while!  Or at least that is how I’m feeling this week.  The week between Christmas and New Years is just a useless week.  However, it is my busiest week of the whole month.  I have a stack of work that needs to be done by the first, most of which was loaded on to me just this week.  Thankfully I had started some stuff before Christmas or I would be stressing out.  You’re asking yourself, if she’s so busy then why is she blogging?  Well, 1) if I don’t post about Christmas now, then it will probably never happen and 2) I need to do something that requires very little brain power for a few minutes.  I believe this post will take very little brainpower.

So, Christmas was good.  We went over to my parents’ for a few days and had my extended family Christmas party at my uncle’s.  Nothing really crazy or super exciting to report and I would consider that to be a good thing.  Abbi got some fun new toys, Tim got some poker chips and new boots, and I got my puzzle/game table.  I am very pumped about the table.  This is a table I have been wanting for a long time.  My step-dad was gracious enough to spend the past few weeks making it for me and it is fabulous!  It is hard to describe but here goes:  the table top is like a box where the top lifts off, leaving behind the bottom of the box.   I hope that makes sense.  I am able to put together puzzles and then put the top back on the table so my puzzle is not disturbed by certain naughty kittens and then we can still play games and cards on it.  So cool, so very cool!

The best gift though was given to Tim and I from Abbi.  She slept in Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning until 7:40 each day!  It doesn’t seem like much but that extra hour each day was heavenly!  And she was still going to bed by 6:30 or 7pm.  Heavenly!  She also did really well at my family Christmas party.  I was worried that all of the people (approximately 30) in a small space, with all of the noise and commotion, would freak her out and she would cry the entire time.  She was fine.  She wandered around, checking everything out, keeping us in sight at all times, and only got whiney when she was getting tired at the end of the evening.

Highlight: Uncle Kim completely confusing everyone when he handed out the “numbers” for the gift game.

Best Gift That We Didn’t Get: My nephew CJ’s Zoo Tycoon 2 computer game which completely sucked us in.  Tim was so determined to make a successful zoo that he was playing it into the wee hours of the morning.
