16 weeks

Today was my 16 week OB appointment.  Nothing new and exciting to report.  Everything looks normal I guess.  Abbi went with me though this morning so she thought it was pretty cool to go to “mommy’s doctor check-up”.  I’ll probably be taking her to most of my normal check-ups.  She will not be going with me if they are going to do an exam though.  Not ready to subject her to that at all!

Our next appointment will be at 20 weeks and we’ll be doing the ultrasound.  Yes, we will be attempting to find out the sex of the baby.  I know lots of people want to be surprised at the birth but not me.  I’m fine with being surprised at 20 weeks.  My excuse is that I think it will be easier for Abbi to adjust if she knows if she’s having a baby brother or baby sister. Really?  No, I just don’t want to wait another 20 weeks to find out.  Yes, I am the type of person that has always snooped for her Christmas gifts and shook the ones under the tree.  Tim and I both have a pretty strong feeling that it is another girl, which I think we’re both pretty ok with.

So Karen posted an interesting topic on her blog yesterday.  It is about whether a woman should have a stash of money (secret or not) that is separate from her husband’s money or their shared money.  I’m not sure how I feel about it.  I understand why women would want to do this but I don’t have a stash.  I really do see the reasons on both sides of the issue.  You want to trust your husband so why keep a secret stash of money for the “just in case.” But I’ve known some pretty great guys who have up and left their wives.  I don’t know.  What do you think?  Do you have a secret stash or separate bank accounts?  Funny thing is, I just called and closed out the two bank accounts that I had from high school and college.
