Fall Camping

We survived our first annual fall camping trip.  The weather was actually not bad for October.  It was probably in the 50s during the day and freaking cold at night, but that is why we borrowed Tim’s parent’s camper which has heat!  Abbi had a lot of fun.  They had these big blow-up halloween decorations that she thought were just great. And she discovered acorns.  Unfortunately she didn’t like it when the cap was still attached to the acorn so she would bring them to us to “fix” (pull apart).

I think everyone had a pretty good time.  Jake didn’t care much for the cold weather so he spent most of the time in the camper.  I felt so bad for him.  Poor little guy.  When he did come out side though he was always bundled up in some sort of cute clothes.  Abbi did well with sleeping which was a huge shock.  The ranch had all of their Halloween festivities going on while we were there — haunted barn, haunted hay rides, and other scary things.  Of course this all took place from 7pm to 10pm and was about 100 – 200 yards away from our camp site.  So we heard every scream, chainsaw, tractor, and cannon (not sure what the cannons were for).  Abbi, amazingly enough, was so tired that she just slept through it all.

I think we did create a fear of animals in Abbi though this weekend.  We went over to the little petting farm area for her to see the baby cows, horses, goats, donkey, chickens and bunnies.  She loved those same animals at Pumpkinfest last weekend.  She was doing fine until this little cow looked right at her and let out this ear piercing moo.  She was freaked out (with every right to be).  From that moment on, in her mind, the animals were off limits for the rest of the weekend.

All in all, good times.  And I think we’re planning it for next year as well.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.  I didn’t take nearly as many as I had hoped but my hands were pretty cold and holding onto a cold camera was not a priority.
