This is another one of those pretty cool programs that Tim found last night. I really do love that he digs around on the internet because he discovers these cool programs and then shares them with me. And, since he doesn’t have a blog, I get to share them with you.

Animoto is a web app designed by some techie nerds and film/tv producers. Basically you upload your pictures to the site (either through Flickr or another web photo program or directly from your computer), arrange them in the order you want, pick music from their library or upload your own music, click go, and it will automatically compose the video for you. The difference between this program and doing a slide-show on your photo programs? First, you don’t have to do any of the editing. Big time saver. Second, their transitions are way cool. And, if you don’t quite like how it was put together, you can have the program re-do it.

Currently the 30 second videos (approximately 15-20 pictures) are free. You can purchase credits to do a full-length video (5-10 minutes, depending on the file size of your music — 10MB max) at $3 per video or $30 per year. Since the app is still in the beta version, you are only able to email your videos and post your videos on blogs, Facebook, MySpace, and other social networking sites. However, they are working on allowing you to send them to a cellphone, load them onto your iPod & iPhone, and download them onto your computer.

I’m a fan so far. Here is a 30 second video I did of Abbi. It was so simple. It actually took me more time to pick the pictures than it did for the video to be created. Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think!
