Week 36

With officially 4 weeks left until my due date, we had another ultrasound done yesterday. My OB wants to check the current size of the baby to make sure a natural delivery would be feasible for me. She apparently has doubts regarding me pushing out a 9+ pound baby. I must say, I’m right there with her. Thankfully the ultrasound tech, after taking all the necessary measurements, estimated that the wee one is approximately 6 pounds. I’m sure that will make my OB happy and more confident in my laboring ability. Needless to say, with that news, I am ready to check in and deliver this baby. Six pounds sounds like a good size to me.

I was going to scan in the picture of the baby that the tech gave us yesterday but it would really be pointless. I was actually really surprised at how hard it was to see things at this ultrasound. It was so much easier to make things out at our 20 week ultrasound. I’m sure it is because at 20 weeks she was small and they could easily show her entire body on the screen. Now she is significantly bigger and her head alone takes up the entire ultrasound screen. Nonetheless, it was still cool to see her again! Her little heart beating. Her already chubby thighs. Her hair! And her chubby cheeks. Yup, this child too is cursed with my chubby cheeks.

In other pregnancy news….I am so tired of having acid reflux! I am chomping down Tums like crazy! That and my increasing discomfort are all I have to complain about at this point. I’m slowly plugging away at my to-do list. I’ve got all the baby’s 0-3 month clothes washed and mostly put away. Please, PLEASE hear me when I say beg you not to buy this child any clothes. I understand that some people believe that the younger sibling should not be stuck in all hand-me-downs but, unless you want to buy me a bigger house with nice huge closets, you will trust me when I say this child has enough clothes. Enough doesn’t even describe it. She has an ungodly amount of clothing! Oh, and please no baby blankets! I have a stack of blankets from when Abbi was born and, again, running out of room over here for this stuff!

So the bigs things left on my list before the baby comes is to clean and organize the basement, locate the car seat in the storage room, make and freeze some meals, and pack our bags for the hospital (which will get done right before we leave for the hospital). Oh, not to mention sleep and figure out how in the heck I’m going to manage a newborn and a toddler!
