The answer was obvious

Today, while we were at the mall with the girls, we ended up in the elevator with a woman who was about our age. She looked at our girls and looked at us and said, “So I just need to ask, how is it with two kids? We have a 21 month old and are thinking of having another.”

What do you say to that? Tim and I just looked at each other and smiled. We each scraped for words and finally said, “It’s just busy.” She knew though from our expressions and hesitation that what we really meant to say was, “Lady, go home and double up on the birth control. You don’t want to enter in to this nightmare quite yet.”

We chit chatted with her for a bit and still the only advice we could give her was that it was busy because you now have two schedules to worry about.

Even after having a few hours to think about it, I still don’t know what I would tell her. Maybe that some days it is the best thing ever and it fills my heart with joy when Abbi says that she and Zoe are best friends or when Abbi walks into the room and Zoe’s face lights up with the biggest smile. And that other days it is pure hell and I want to beat my head against a brick wall. I guess maybe I would just say, hey, go for it and hope to hell you don’t end up with twins!
