6 Months

Zoe turned 6 months earlier this week. Can you believe it? SIX MONTHS! And Abbi will be turning three years old in less than two months. My girls are growing up. *sigh*

Zoe is becoming a very active six month old that is for sure. She’s rolling around (although she tends to only want to roll toward her left), spins in circles on her belly, and scoots. She gets up on all fours and tries to crawl but her left arm just kind of gets in the way. I’m starting to worry about that left arm. Her two bottom teeth are in and extremely sharp (so glad I’m not breast feeding) and I think she has some more making their way through. Oh joy. And the sleeping, well, we’re getting there. Most nights she does pretty well. She sleeps from 8 or 8:30pm until anywhere between 4am and 6am. Depending on when she wakes up in the morning, I can usually get her to take a bottle and either fall back asleep in the pack-n-play or in her swing. But oh Lord that girl is a talker! And she is so loud. I think I hear my husband giving me an amen to that. She is especially vocal in those wee morning hours when the rest of the house is trying to squeeze in a few more hours of sleep. Like I said, we’re working on it.

As different as Zoe is from Abbi at this stage, I am thankful for one difference. Zoe learned to sooth (or talk) herself to sleep with very little crying. Actually, with no crying. I would usually rock her to sleep for naps and bedtime but one day she just wouldn’t go to sleep so I put her in her crib while she was still awake. To my amazement, just 10 minutes later, I still hadn’t heard any crying from her. I peeked in and she was asleep. Convinced this was a fluke, I tried it again. And again. And again. And the majority of the time, she goes to sleep all on her own. Yes, I am counting my blessings here!
