Turkey Day

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in the ol’ US and I’m so excited. It is one of my favorite holidays. I love eating and a holiday that offers me as much food as I can possibly eat, sign me up! And let’s not forget about the grazing! I love picking and grazing on all of the yummy food all day.

We will be heading over to the in-laws’ house tomorrow for dinner and hanging out with the fam. It will be a small gathering (Tim’s parents, Tim’s brother and his fiance, and us) but it will still be nice. I have no idea what the menu will entail but I have no doubt that I will eat lots! Did I mention I love this holiday?

Growing up we always had Thanksgiving at my grandma’s house. The small house would be busting at the seams with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. It would be chaotic and noisy and, at some point, someone would get mad about something. But oh the smells! The spread of food was always simple and basic but always delicious. I’m sure those of you making gourmet dinners tomorrow will have a fabulous dinner but I’m a simple person. I want the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, my grandma’s stuffing, rolls, deviled eggs, and pumpkin pie with whip cream. I can feel myself gaining weight just thinking about it!

I miss Thanksgiving with my family. I haven’t been home in years to celebrate that holiday with them. It’s just easier to stay here now that we have small kids but I will be thinking of them as they all gather at my uncle’s house tomorrow and I can’t wait to hear all about it from my mom!

Happy Thanksgiving!
