Followthrough Failure

It was a week between my last two posts. A WEEK. I wish I could say that this was a rarity but, sadly, it’s not. It’s become a pretty common occurrence for me. The worst part is that it is not due to a lack of time, not entirely anyhow. Here’s the situation — I start typing a post, get about 2/3 of the way through it, and then I get distracted. Kids wake up from a nap, email comes through requesting me to do something, something really great comes on tv. And then, I shut the computer. Just like that. Without even thinking about finishing my post. The next time I open my computer that post is sitting there, waiting for me to finish it but I’m not feeling it anymore. So, I delete it.

This happens day after day. I have really good intentions and want to add to my blog daily but it just doesn’t happen. So how do you do it? I know there are lots of you out there who are way busier than me and yet you post daily, sometimes multiple times a day. How do you do it? I’m specifically thinking of you stay-at-home-moms out there who have your kids at your feet all day. How and when do you find time to blog?

It seemed when it was just Abbi and I at home that I could blog much more. She would nap or entertain herself for a little bit and I could blog. But now Zoe is here too. When Zoe is napping I’m usually trying to get the house cleaned up, shower, and give some personal attention to Abbi. (Zoe has yet to entertain herself.) When both the girls are napping I’m still trying to get caught up with the house or bills or work.

And by the time the evening comes and the girls are in bed, well, hmmmm, where’s my excuse now? I could say that I’m giving the hubby my undivided personal attention but we’re usually just hanging out together, each on our computers. I guess this is where I get caught up doing something other than writing. I tend to get caught up in reading everyone else’s fabulous blogs. And, by the time I’m doing sifting through my RSS reader, I’m tired and ready for bed.

So, where do I find the balance? I’m not sure I can put off my kids to blog so the other option is to put off reading other blogs. This may mean not reading some of those blogs altogether. That kind of sucks because I really enjoy most of them (Yes, there are a few that I’m not quite sure why I read). So, I guess that is my solution. Quit reading and more typing.

Thanks guys! I knew I could count on you to help me figure this out! You know, it would really help if you guys didn’t post such wonderful stuff on your blogs. I’m just sayin’!
