Do you know what you were doing a year ago today? Ok, that was silly because, really, why would you remember? I remember. I remember because a significant thing happened to us a year ago today. We had Zoe. A year ago today I was holding a brand new child in my arms. Exhausted. Hopeful. Terrified. Complete.
Tim happened to say to me last night before we got ready for bed, “hey, thanks for having a baby with me who had a birthday party today.” It seems kind of a weird thing to say now, but it wasn’t until he said that that the emotions and feelings that surrounded Zoe’s birth came back to me.
Zoe’s labor and delivery were fast. Very fast. Four hours after I started having contractions I gave birth to her. So much about Zoe’s labor and delivery reflect on the child she is now. She’s always in a hurry to get where she wants to go (fast birth). She’s pretty much always causing trouble, in the most innocent of ways (she decided to come out face-up = lots of pain for me and no pain meds could be given). But when it is all said and done, she is a keeper.
It is amazing to see how Zoe’s personality has developed this past year. She is such a character. Always smiling. Always happy. And completely in love with her big sister. Her smile lights up a room. Her laugh is infectious. She is our Zoe Monster!
