A new coat

We’ve decided that we’ll be staying in our house a little longer. For a few reasons actually. The current market here really stinks so even trying to sell just doesn’t appeal to us. And we’re ok with where we are. We have a decent size yard with plenty of room for the girls and dog to play. We are just a mile or so down the road from where Abbi will be going to preschool this fall. And, with a few interior modifications, we’ll have enough space inside for us too.

So, the renovations begin. We’ve actually already renovated this house once before. About 3 years ago we bought this house to flip it. We pretty much gutted and remodeled the entire house and then rented it out for about a year. Then our renters moved out, we cleaned the place up again, and we moved in after we sold our condo.

In the past 10 months we’ve pretty much repainted the interior, re-landscaped the front, put in a new well-line, cleaned-up the yard and patched grass, put in a garden and sandbox, and built a new deck. Oh, and removed a few dying trees.

Then we decided that the baby blue siding needed to go. We could do as much as we wanted to the yard and the inside, but, as long as it had that baby blue siding, it was always going to look…well, less desirable. A painter who does work for our business told us he could actually paint our siding. For much less than it would cost to re-side and it would look good and last. Umm. Ok. Let’s get painting!

And he did. He painted. And here are the results.

So, what do you think? We still need to repaint the front door and we’re getting quotes on some cement work. We’re going to repave our driveway and put a cement pad on the side of the garage to prep for a third stall on the garage.

Whew! There is actually more but we’ll just leave it at that for now!
