The Happiness Challenge

I’ve decided that this is the year.  2010.  This is the year that I will take back my happiness.  Somewhere along the line, I’m not exactly sure where or when or why, my bubbly, happy self got lost.  I know she’s in there, in me.  And this is the year I take back the happy me.  For my husband.  For my kids.  For me.

Sooooo, I’ve decided to jump on to The Happiness Challenge.  Fitting, right?

Happiness Project

The Happiness Challenge is something set forth by Gretchen Rubin, based on her book “The Happiness Project“.  The idea behind the challenge is that we all find happiness differently.  My happiness is not going to be the same as yours.  However, there are general ways to help each of us find that individualized happiness.  Did I confuse you yet?  Basically Gretchen has given each month a theme (i.e. January is energy, February is love, March is work, etc.) and each week in that month has a resolution.  The individualized part of this is achieving those resolutions in whichever way fits your life, in whatever way they help you find happiness.

As I said, January is Energy.  Week 1’s challenge was to get more sleep.  Truth be told, I actually get a good amount of sleep, aside from those nights I stay up way too late playing Mario with the husband on the Wii or the nights a certain 4 year old sneaks into my bed.  Even bigger truth be told, when I don’t get enough sleep, my happiness level is greatly affected.  Little sleep = Little happiness.  Mommy likes sleep!  Week 2’s challenge was to get more exercise.  I’m working on it.

This week’s challenge is to Toss and Organize. I’m excited to share with you what I’ve been tossing and organizing this week.  That post is coming soon!  (I was going to write it all here and decided we were going a little long!)

So here we go!  Yay Happiness!  I know a year is a long time and I’m sure there are weeks that I won’t want to do the challenge or will probably forget, but I’m going to try!
