The Home-Stretch

First, I apologize if you’re getting a little sick of reading baby, baby, and more baby stuff here, in my tweets, and on my Facebook updates.  I tend to write about whatever is going on in my life and, well, that is what’s been going on around here. So, let’s get to it.

Yes, I’m still pregnant.  I’m somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks away from my due date.  I don’t really have a concrete due date because it all depends on how big they estimate this little guy is when I go for another ultrasound at the end of January.

For the most part I’ve been feeling okay.  The baby is definitely dropping and moving into position, which puts his head square on my bladder.  Contractions are becoming a little stronger and more uncomfortable, but nothing regular.  Same ol’ story — pregnant lady ready to not be pregnant anymore!

With just about a month left, here’s what I have on my “to-do” list:

  • Baby Shower benefiting Teen Moms – this is actually happening this Saturday and I’m so excited.  If you haven’t heard, I’m hosting a baby shower to benefit the local Teen Moms program in conjunction with an amazing contest I won from iVillage.com.  I think I have everything ready for the actual day.  I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather participates!
  • Stuff for Baby – I think I have pretty much everything we need to get us through the first month or so with this little guy.  I’m really hoping to breastfeed this time around but, knowing that anything could happen, I’m not going crazy buying a ton of breastfeeding gear or bottle feeding gear.  I have what I think we need to get us started and then we’ll go from there.
  • The Hospital Bag – I’ve actually started thinking about this!  Huge leap forward for me since I didn’t pack a bag ahead of time for either of my previous pregnancies.  But, knowing that we’ve got a little longer drive to the hospital and remembering how quickly my labor and delivery went with Zoe, I’m trying to be a little more proactive.  Plus, I also need to pack overnight bags for the girls!
  • Meals – This is where I’m at a little bit of a loss.  Unfortunately our freezer really isn’t big enough for me to make meals ahead of time and freeze for when the baby comes.  So, I (sadly) foresee us doing a lot of take-out and quick/easy meals (mac & cheese, sandwiches).

That’s where we’re at right now.  Counting down.  Crossing things of the to-do list.  Excited about the second ultrasound.  Trying to find comfortable positions. Fun times.
