Simple Homemade Pizza Pockets

It’s no secret, I’m not a fan of meal time. I like to eat the meals, I just don’t like to prepare them. To my defense, it doesn’t help that my family is not the most adventurous eaters (some would say “picky”). That’s nice, to a point, but then it just gets boring.

So, I’m on the mission to discover or create some new, basic, simple meals that I know my family will enjoy. Or learn to enjoy! Of course, as I discover them, I’ll share them with you!

Simple Pizza Pockets

My family loves pizza but ordering out for pizza can get expensive and isn’t always the easiest thing since we’re a good 10 minute drive from any pizza place. And none of them deliver out to us. Of course we can always make pizzas at home, which we like to do. This is just an alternative to it all. The best part about these Simple Pizza Pockets is that you can customize them with whatever ‘toppings’ you like and you can even sneak some healthier toppings in there.

What you’ll need:

  • Crescents
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Your choice of pizza toppings
  • Your choice of seasonings

How to do it:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2: Unroll and separate the crescents into triangles on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Step 3: Spread a small amount of pizza sauce onto the wide part of each triangle.

Step 4: Add whatever seasonings you like.

Step 5: Add the toppings of your choice to each triangle. Don’t overload the toppings because you need to be able to roll these things up!

Step 6: Add cheese.

Step 7: Roll ’em up! I flop the long pointy end overtop, tuck it under and then pull the sides up over top. You can do it however it works best for you.  You just want to make sure it’s sealed up as much as possible so your sauce and cheese don’t escape.

Step 8: Bake in over for 11 – 13 minutes or until they start to get slightly brown (oven times will vary).

Step 9: Remove. Let cool. Eat!

These end up being the perfect size for little hands! You can serve them up with a side of pizza sauce or ranch dressing for dipping or eat as is. Here’s a hint though…if everyone is choosing different toppings, you may want to mark them with different colored tooth picks or put similar toppings in one row. It’s amazing how you can forget which toppings are located where on that cookie sheet after 12 minutes!
