Confession: I like to drive fast

Maybe it’s because most days I have kids in the car with me and, so, I’m mindful of my driving and my speed. But on the times when they are not with me, I love to drive fast. I’m still very mindful of my driving, but the speed limit becomes more of a suggestion.

When this lovely 2013 Kia Optima SX pulled into my driveway, I knew I was going to have fun! It was small and sleek and just looked like it was ready to be driven. Fast.

I even had to laugh when the guy who was dropping it off to me was giving me the overview of the car. He mentioned that the car does have some speed behind it and then, immediately, showed me where the registration and insurance information was in the car. You know…just in case.

And then, there was Tim’s reaction…Did you see the wheels on that car? You mean aside from there being four? (He finds little humor in me.) Apparently the wheels on the 2013 Kia Optima SX are high performance or something really cool like that. Some times things like this are totally wasted on me. I just appreciated that there were four wheels and all four had air in them!

But let’s chat about the things I really did appreciate, aside from the speed! The Kia Optima SX is a great smaller car for my single friends or if you have a smaller family. I loved {LOVED} the dual sun/moon roofs! This is definitely a feature in the Kia that has me hooked! And the Optima, although a smaller car, has an amazing amount of space inside, which makes for roadtrips fun and comfortable.

But the true test for a mom is the trunk space. Because kids come with a lot of baggage, literally. And the Kia Optima has an amazing amount of trunk space!

Unfortunately, as fun and wonderful (and FAST) as the Kia Optima is, it doesn’t work well for our family. With three kids who are still in car seats/booster seats, it is very tough to fit all three kids in the back seat. Again, it is more suitable for a single person, couples with out kids, or a family with just one or two kids. Or, if you have kids who are a little older and are out of those car seats, it would work as well. Which will be me in a few years! {YAY} And then we will be revisiting this car!

Oh, and for the record, I had no issues with speeding (or getting caught) during my week with the Kia Optima SX. But it is a really fun, spunky car! So, so fun!

What do you look for in a new car? What is your number one requirement?

I was provided this 2013 Kia Optima for a week-long test drive and vacation from my mom-mobile from Kia. All opinions are my own.
