Sprucing up your home decor in time for Spring! {giveaway}

After {what seems like} a long Winter, I’m very much looking forward to Spring and all it brings. I want warmer weather so we can get these windows open and a gentle breeze to blow through here and air out the Winter-blahs. I want the green grass and leaves to return. I want to pack away all the hats and mitts, boots and snow pants and sweaters. Bring on the flip flops and bright colors.

I even want to Spring clean. I know! It’s crazy! But this is what Spring does to me!!!

But this year’s Spring will be different. Usually, when I jump into my Spring cleaning, I also want to give my house a little Spring makeover. Rearrange furniture, hang a new shelf displaying a bright colored  vase, or hang some newly framed pictures or kids’ artwork. Actually, I’d love to rip out our bedroom carpet and put down some new flooring and slap some new paint colors on the wall.

The problem? If all works out, we’ll be moving later this Spring or Summer.

Knowing this, I don’t want to really make any changes to the house. I also don’t want to add any more holes to the walls that I’ll just have to patch up in a few weeks/months.

So this year I’m trying to find ways that I can still get a new “Springy” look around here but without being permanent {or at least without the extra work it will leave me}. Think: Simple! Easy! Temporary!

First up, I’m thinking of looking for some new pillows for our sofas that have a bright color pattern to them. Then, we love candles and air freshers! I’m going to look for some bright colored candles with fun Spring smells. Or maybe a few fun candle holders. What are some new Spring-smells you like?

Last, wall decor. I know, I know…I just got done saying I didn’t want to put holes in the walls to hang things. But that’s why I’m thinking about some of these amazing Canvas Prints from Shutterfly!

I can choose some of our favorite photos, ones that scream Spring & Summer, and have them printed on canvases of various sizes. And, because the canvas prints are quite a bit lighter than a framed photo, I can use those temporary picture hooks to hang them! And, for the kids’ rooms, I love these wall decals! The Super Hero Sounds and Flower Power decals are a great way to add a new splash of color!!

Truth be told, I’m so bad at displaying updated pictures of the kids! I’m really bad at trying to figure out what matte and frame works with what photo. That’s why I really like these Shutterfly canvases, photo blocks and other “frameless” decor items! I’m hoping that the changing of the season and how easy it is to use Shurtterfly will help spur me on to get some new prints of the kids up.

So, what are some easy ways for me to spruce up our house for Spring? Remember, I need easy and temporary. How do you get your house ready for Spring?
