Survive Winter Break with Kidoodle.TV

Earlier this Fall I had the opportunity to check out a new kids’ tv streaming site called Kidoodle.TV while it was going through some beta-testing. I’m also excited to do that kind of work because, since we do not get cable out here in the good ol’ country, we get one channel with kids programming — PBS.

Now I do love PBS Kids and their programs. But my kids, especially while home for 2 weeks on Winter break, crave a little variety. Especially my oldest.

Kidoddle.TV gives us that option! Because it’s a streaming service, the kids get to pick out episodes from some of their favorite shows to watch. Streaming also means that the older kids can watch age-appropriate shows in the afternoon while they are having some down-time and their little brother is napping. {Also known as “mom needs a sanity break” time.}

Here’s what I like about Kidoodle.TV

  1. Variety — Not only does Kidoodle.TV offer a great selection of kids’ programs, but they also include some classics that I remember from my childhood. Hello! Classic Strawberry Shortcake and Gem & the Holograms!

  2. Personalized Selections — From my Parent Account, I can personalize a home-screen for each of the kids! That way I know that Talon doesn’t have the option to watch shows that aren’t quite appropriate for him yet. And he gets a more simplified selection of shows I know he’ll love. Hello! Chuck & Friends!
  3. Parent Room — I just mentioned how you can personalize the selection for each kids front he Parent Account but there’s actually more to it. Not only can you personalize their home screen look, but you can choose to either do a broad filter by age range and/or individually select shows to appear or not appear on their home screen. You can also set time limits for the kids to be on Kidoodle.TV!

  4. Kidoodle.TV is available on a variety of devices — laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphones.

If you’re looking for a few moments of peace this Winter Break or maybe want to introduce your kids to a few new shows, now is a great time! Through the end of December 2013, Kidoodle.TV is free! After that you’ll need a subscription BUT that means you’ll get two weeks of checking it all out for FREE while your kids are home on break!

Oh, and if you try out Kidoodle.TV before the end of December, you will be entered for a chance to win 1 of 10 Kidoodle.TV year-long subscriptions or 1 of 10 tablets!
