5 Tips for Disney Character Meet & Greets + a fun Minnie Mouse Costume

In just a matter of weeks the great migration will begin – the Summer vacation trip to Disney!

Some of my favorite memories are from those Summer trips to Disney. Packed in like sardines and driving for what seemed like eternity. Ahh! But I still get giddy when I get the chance to “meet” a Disney character.

If you’re headed to Disney this Summer, here are 5 quick tips to make the most of character meet & greets:

1. Download the Disney app to your smart phone. This will give you a heads up as to when and where you’ll find your favorite characters.

2. Introduce but don’t hover. If your little one us nervous about meeting the characters, be there as a reassurance that it’s ok. These “characters” are really good at their job and your little one will warm up to them in no time. Once he does, step back and let the magic happen.

3. Trust the Disney photographers to capture the magic for you. At each character meet and greet, there will be a Disney photographer there, eager to capture the moment. Let them! Get out from behind the camera and just enjoy the moment. And maybe get in a photo or two yourself.

4. Replenish during the wait. Use that time while waiting in line to grab something cold to drink or a little snack or plan your next stop. It will help pass the time and give everyone a boost of energy.

5. Dress the part! Kids love dressing like their favorite Disney characters and the characters are really good at playing it up. I love these Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes from CostumeDiscounters.com. Not only are they really adorable but their lightweight material is perfect for those Summer days at the park.

My oldest was especially excited about the Minnie costume since she’s taking some time off from the princesses. The sizing was great (actually flexible enough for both of the girls to wear) and she didn’t complain even once about it being for “little kids” (something she likes to say when it comes to costumes).

And, because these costumes are super affordable, you won’t be stressing out when they sill their ice cream down the front of it. Because it will happen. Guaranteed.
