The calendar may say it’s still Summer, but, here in the midwest, Fall is all around us! At least the 49* reading on my thermometer outside seems to tell me!
So, forget about fighting it and just embrace it. Put away the flip-flops and remember how much you love cozy sweaters and tall boots! And fall decorating!!!
While I’m not ready to bust out the Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations, there are plenty of opportunities to add some fun fall color to your decor now. And one of my favorites is this wine bottle craft!
So easy to do! Gather some empty wine bottles (great excuse to have some friends over and have them *help* you empty some wine bottles), black matte spray paint, glitter sticky letters from the craft store, and fall “greens”. Clean your empty wine bottles, removing the labels and sticky parts, and let them dry completely. And I mean completely. Then give them a good, even coating of black matte spray paint and let dry. Again. Once dry, add your sticky letters to each bottle. I used silver last year but I’m thinking of removing those and changing them up with some gold letters this year. Then fill with your favorite fall “greens”, cattails, and sunflowers!
Of course that only fills one spot on my mantel! So here are some other Fall Decorating ideas that I love:
Golden Jars DIY — Meredith did this as a Summer hostess gift idea but they would also work really well for the fall! Add a little leaf cutout on your jar as you spray it to give it that fall look!
Glitter Glass Pumpkins DIY — I absolutely love these glitter pumpkin jars from The Scrap Shoppe! Fingers crossed that I can find similar jars in our craft store!
DIY Fall Chalkboard Sign — I wish I had another mantle in my house for this sign or maybe I should just rotate between this one and the wine bottles, because I love the combination of wood, burlap and black on this sign! And it’s a great way to repurpose some old wood or pallets!
Pumpkins, Pumpkins and more Pumpkins — And before you start cutting funny or creepy faces on those pumpkins, take a gander at all the different ways to use pumpkins both inside and outside!
