To answer the question

In just a few days my baby will be turning five. FIVE! I can’t even believe how quickly that happened.

And this means that next year, come September, he will be in Kindergarten. And all three of my babies will be in school…all day…five days a week.

Some days I felt like this day would never come but, most days, I can’t believe we are already here.

So, this often brings up the question from others: “What are you going to do next year with all your time? Go back to work?”

I love these questions. {insert sarcasm} First, I do work. I’ve been working for the past four and a half years. It just happens that I have an amazing job that is amazingly flexible and allows me to work remotely. So, wherever I have an internet connection can be my office (home, the library, Barnes & Nobel — even though they scowl at me when I sit in their cafe and don’t order any coffee).

So, yeah, I won’t be “going back to work”; I’ll just be continuing to work. But without the constant feeling of guilt when I’m sitting at my computer and my kids are asking me to play or I’ll actually be working normal hours and not trying to squeeze 6 hours of work into 3 hours of “preschool time”.

But that’s not all! I just might actually find time to write here again! Cah-Razy! Because my ‘computer time’ is swamped with my actual job stuff, I just haven’t found time to write here this past year. Unfortunately, it’s always the task that gets put on the end of the list (and often forgotten about), despite how much I love to just write. So, yes, I’m looking forward to spending a little more time here in the coming year and sharing with you all that’s going on around the homestead.

Which brings me to the third thing I’ll be “filling my time with”…. the homestead!

I have so many fun projects we’re working on around the homestead that I would love to share with you all! DIYs. The animals. Soap making. I honestly cannot wait to not be spending the bulk of my day in the car dropping off and picking up kids from various schools. Yes, those will still happen but it won’t chop up my day nearly as much as it does now.

So, there you have it. Question answered!

While I’ll miss having my little guy home for part of the day each day, I think we’re both really looking forward to this next chapter!
